Muskuloskeletal Disorders

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are impairments of bodily structures such as muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves, bones and the localised blood circulation system, that are caused or aggravated primarily by work itself or by the environment in which work is carried out. The cost of MSDs to the EU is enormous, prevention is possible, and action is required in the process of returning workers to work.
This section of the European Agency's web site provides the employers, workers, OSH experts and other interested parties with a set of links to information sources related to tackling MSDs. It includes both good safety and health practice to prevent musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace, and information on rehabilitation, reintegration and retention of workers at work.
