FR-Psychosocial risks at the top of consultations on work-related diseases.
Psychosocial risks
Since 2001, a network of medical experts offers consultations to workers on work-related diseases. The network is coordinated by AFSSET and publishes regular reports on its activities. A database offers access to all the cases, over 100,000 at present. For the first time, psychosocial issues top the list of underlying causes addressed by the network. The network is also in contact with other national initiatives with similar aims (for example the pan-european Modernet network) and exchanges information about emerging issues and diseases. Other health problems consistently observed over the years are asbestos-related diseases, in particular cancer, allergic contact dermatitis, musculo-skeletal disorders and occupational cancer. More than a third of the cases observed in 2007 warranted a declaration as an occupational disease. The workers are on average 55% men and 45% women, and female patients are on average younger than their male counterparts.
